“I think adolescents have depth that sometimes we don’t readily see because they are figuring out so much about life in the world. I’m challenged by them, I’m fascinated by them, and I’m highly entertained by them. They have a sense of independence—one day they’ll need attention and the next they’re very mature—and I like that range of emotion.”

Jane

Who is Jane?

As a child, Jane grew up loved in a home among books, LP records, and a backyard where her beloved dog Mac rescued her from pretend blizzards and real book reports.

As a teenager, Jane learned to drive the roads of rural Virginia in a three-speed yellow Corvair and played lead guitar in a band with her three best friends. She misses the car, and the friends – she still has the guitar.

As a high school graduate, Jane traveled two hours from home to attend college intending to become a veterinarian. A summer job at Camp Easter Seal convinced her to change majors. She decided to pursue life as a teacher and hang out with children hoping to cure their fear of the blank page. She vowed not to assign book reports.

As an adult, Jane moved to Charlottesville, met an engineer, and entered a doctoral program in school administration. Becoming a school principal did not interest her, but the cute boy did. She married him.

As a teacher, Jane discovered Henley Middle School and reveled among creative colleagues, a supportive community, and enchanting adolescents. Kinda wonderful.

As a small business owner, Jane opened the door to Studio13: The Art of Acceleration in October 2020. The story continues.
